Under The Skin

Under The Skin was probably the most collaborative of all the shows I have worked on in my career.

The house fly sequence was a particular highlight, my first chance at occupying multiple roles and to develop a relationship with the director. The task was to create a photo-realistic fly but also some how convey terror; the fly was scared of this alien and wanted to get away.

Under The Skin gave me another first as an artist: to create an erect penis for each of the two of the unlucky fellas who are lured to their death by Scarlett johansson’s, alien. Staying late, in an empty room, sculpting and looking for reference images will be a memory that I’ll not forget.

The film reaches it’s climax in a Scottish forest. This was my first real time tracking cameras to plates and conforming scenes with zero markers, in a forest with handheld cameras. I was also tasked with creating textures for the alien’s head and helped with roto animation.
